To celebrate launching intelisci, and in support of St Jude Children's Hospital, I'll be riding through five states, from my home in NYC to Montreal. The ride will take me over some of the tallest mountain passes in New Hampshire and Vermont, over the Canadian border and on into Montreal. I really hope to finish this within 4 days which will mean an average of 125 miles a day is required!!
Please consider donating to St Jude Children's Research Hospital through the 'Go Fund Me' below. Their work is terrifically important making significant contributions to life saving research. They are a ray of hope for Children and their Families in times of desperate need, never charging for their care.
For me, lonely hours in the saddle, the rhythm of the peddles, the physical challenge and marvel of reaching a distance, a seemingly unattainable goal, is a perfect combination for my mental health. For those that don't know me, I need a reset every now and then to help me get into the right mindspace for the next big challenge. This time, it's one of the biggest adventures of my life, with the largest risk... After nearly 20 years of building a career in exciting life science recruitment companies, I am following a long-standing dream to start my own company. Intelisci will launch officially following this ride, but in the meantime, the hours, the miles, and the hills will help me daydream my way to success! Come October 3rd, I’ll be mentally refreshed and hopefully, not too saddle sore!!
Please join along with my ride, I'll be posting updates here. Hopefully this will be a bit of fun, you guys can follow my exploits on the road!
Day 1. 6.10am
Guess it's time.. setting of early today, the plan was to devide the day into three three hour sessions. The hope was to average 15mph and therefore hit 45miles per session, bringing a grand today for the day of 135 miles. This would be a good start to achieve the goal of 500 miles over 4 days.
Session 1: making my way through central Manhattan, Harlam, Bronx and through New Rochelle was not quick! I had to push to 3:20hrs to hit 45 miles. But, ended the session with a great first road breakfast!!
Session 2, the roads opened up and managed to up the pace, I entered the Beutiful Farmington Canal Cycle route, pushed on to 55 miles in session 2! By 6:20hrs, I was rewarded by 100miles and a massive ice cream!
Session 3: feeling pretty good, loaded up on sugar, I sailed through the remaining 35miles originally targeted and pushed on... into a storm :(
Eventual milage on day 1, 157miles. 5000+ feet in elevation. Very tired and happy!
