Our client, a Boston-based preclinical stage biopharmaceutical company, is on a mission to revolutionize oncology drug discovery. They are dedicated to tackling challenging oncology targets and leveraging an AI-driven platform and computational drug design to create transformative therapies for patients.
Position Overview:
We are currently assisting our client in their search for a Director of AI/ML Drug Discovery to lead their AI/ML team. This individual will be responsible for integrating machine-learning models with physics-based computational methods for drug discovery. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of AI/ML concepts and a passion for applying these technologies to advance drug discovery efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the integration of machine-learning models with computational methods for drug discovery.
Develop, test, validate, and improve deep-learning models for new structure design in drug discovery.
Utilize public and proprietary datasets to design innovative deep learning architectures and generate predictive models for ligand binding and generative models for new ligand design.
Supervise junior team members and actively contribute to programming and tool development.
Collaborate with scientific leadership to shape the AI/ML strategy and drive the success of the computational platform.
Key Qualifications:
Ph.D. in computational, physical sciences, or a quantitative discipline, with a minimum of 3 years of experience applying computational methods to scientific applications (knowledge of drug discovery is a plus).
Proficiency in developing and programming machine-learning methods.
Strong programming skills in Python, R, C++, and familiarity with machine learning tools and deep learning architectures.
Hands-on experience with large and diverse datasets.
Excellent coding skills and a talent for creating innovative AI/ML applications.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Strong communication skills to convey complex concepts to non-programming audiences.
Previous experience collaborating with research scientists in biology and chemistry is advantageous.
A strong motivation to advance computational methods for medical applications.
